Rachel Falconer update
Hi, I just thought I would pass along my contact address, since I've recently moved to a new position at Lausanne University in Switzerland. There's also a link to my web-page if anyone is interested in finding out what happened to me.

I graduated from Greeley class of 1980. I still remember and am grateful for the great atmosphere and first rate teaching at HGHS, especially the classes with all my English teachers, with Dr O'Neill in French, Mr Marasco in music and Mr Tucci in art. And a wonderful biology teacher whose name I forget (but I still remember his lessons).

best wishes,

Rachel Falconer

Chicken Fat
Hey, Class of '80! If you had Mr. Baker for gym at Grafflin, you MUST remember the "chicken fat" song! It was part of the President's Fitness Program. I heard it yesterday, on NPR of all places, for the first time in over 30 years and it brought back a rush of memories for some very good years. Class of '80 check it out on YouTube - Dinah Shore Nanette Fabray Meredith Willson's "Chicken Fat". This, and a few other renditions, are sure to make you smile! What a blast from the past.

Fun News: Classmate in film
Although we both left Greeley mid-stream to go to a private school, I recently stumbled upon a film from Netflix with a fellow 1976-7 Greeley classmate Meg Arader in it which I thought would be fun for others to see as well. It is seriously grade-B in nature, but its always fun to be in a movie as well as seeing a friend in one so I didn't think she'd mind my mentioning it so ... enjoy! Film: "Acne" year of release: 2000

school directory
I have purchased an alumni directory in the past and it had many more people's information than I could find on this Greeley site. It was fun to see all the names from so many classes and the updated information.
I would say if a person has not purcased one of these books in the past, I reccomend it. For 78 dollars, one time may be enough. :)

Class of 1975 obituary

Personal Update
To my class of 80 friends, I now work for the Master Builders Association in Bellevue, WA, the largest local homebuilder assn in the nation.

Interested in seeing a fellow classmate
Many of my classmates of 1980 may not remember me, I was not popular. I often visit this web-site in hopes of seeing a message posted by someone I knew back then. I was not very popular back then but was "pick" on allot for being gay. Funny, I didn't realize that "outing" myself back then would have any negative effects on my future life. I just wanted to post this message to anyone out there from class of '80 who knew me or knew of me or even yet made fun of me to realize that I made it Ok and went on with my life.

I am a successful Accountant working for an Architectural firm for the past 15 years. Doing very well and very happy. I live in the Boston area now for the past 20 years. When I look back at my High School Days, (Drama club, Spring Finale and Senior Musical) I think of difficult times trying to adjust to a changing society. I know times have changed (thank God) but I wanted all who cared to know that I am doing fine, and don't hold any grudges...

Take care...

If anyone knows the where abouts of Art Mahon let me know, thanks!

Finding friends in my class
I'd love to hear from anyone graduating class of 1980

I am alive

We are recovering
The past few months have been brutal for my family, but thank God, we are all together and recovering. My husband Greg survived the WTC attack, escaping 11 minutes before Tower One collapsed. He lost more than a dozen friends. His story, recorded by Israeli historian Tom Segev, may be accessed through this url.... http://www.haaretzdaily.com/hasen/pages/ShArt.jhtml?itemNo=116233&contrassID=2&subContrassID=15&sbSubContrassID=0&listSrc=Y

I'll be on TV!
Watch a repeat of Episode #215 of Ripley's Believe It Or Not, on Saturday, October 27, 2001, 10:00 a.m. Eastern on the TBS channel. I explain the "Scissors Dance," a genre that I studied in Peru. The segment is called "Face Threading," lasts just a minute or two and is in the middle of the show. Here's a teaser: "Believe it or not, during a popular cultural ritual dancers put themselves into a trance-like state, thread wires over 20 feet long through their faces and then walk back and forth!"

keeping in touch
Though I actually graduated from JFK, its the people I went to school with at Grafflin and Bell that I recall most clearly and dearly. One of my first reactions to Sept. 11 was to check the Greeley web site and to date, incredible as it seems, there are no casualties being reported. The only one I can add is that of Gary Haag, husband of Mary Roche '80, employed by a business in the WTC. I believe they have three children and a home in Ossining. Because of times like these, I am even more grateful for the years we all spent together in Chappaqua, and for the all too brief hours spent together at the reunion. Hope to see even more people at the next one! Where is John Marth? John Lowden? Betsey Oram? Jenny O'Donnell? Laurie Lopez? Kristin Fesnak? Bobby Usati? Frank Rodak? Kim Grehl? George Sabert? Peter Berg? Just to name a few... Who has an address or email for Kathy Nolan Hudson?

I'm back in Buffalo at UB (MSW in '97)working on a PhD in Social Work with a concentration on urban community rebuilding. Sometimes it's really fun; sometimes it's overwheming. Fortunately, I have a soon-to-be-four-year-old son (Noah, 10.22.97) to help me keep things in perspective! Nothing like a hearty discussion about bodily functions or Bob the Builder, or a cozy bedtime story to replant my feet firmly, and gratefully, back on the ground! Those of you with kids can relate...

Hope for peace in our world.

Contacting Teachers
I was just reflecting upon the notes of several people asking for contact information of elementary school teachers and I too have wanted to contact a teacher I was fond of back in second grade. It occured to me that these teachers were not only licensed, but they were likely to have earned pensions if employed for any length of time with these schools. It seems to me that finding a place where their residence is known might not be as hopeless as it first seemed. I will look into it further and check back here with what I learn.

I am alive
I got the announcement about the HG80 reunion and real sorry I missed it. It has taken ten years of working my ass off to realize I miss people I knew at HG. I am in Seattle now and would love to hear from any of my classmates who might happen to recall who I am... I am living now with my wife and two great little girls and am a university professor at the University of Washington. See Ya hopefull at R 2005

Hello Everyone,

BEFORE I GO ON, I'd like to THANK the person or the people who are doing this site. I think that it's a wonderful idea and a fantastic way to find old friends. Not only friends, but people who weren't friends in high school.

After all, I believe that we've all grown up. We have overcome any type of name calling "Clicks" -- which are now known as "Gangs", Greasers, Jocks, Popular Ones, Nerds, (not to mention a few that I can't write--hahaha!!) etc. Let's face it, we all have one thing in common -- We're From Horace Greeley!

So, for anyone who doesn't like this site or doesn't appreciate it, let's just be thankful that we have people out there who are maintaining this for us. I'm sure that it takes much time and effort for them to keep up on things, much less their own private lives. So, THANK YOU FOR DOING A WONDERFUL JOB! Do me a favor please, place your hand somewhere on your back and pat it! You deserve a pat on the back from EVERYONE who you're doing this for. (Granted, your back would hurt after a while--hahaha!) It truly is appreciated!!!!
Anyway, several people have asked me Why my last announcement was done in the third party? Well, due to my illness, which is labeled as: Chronic, Progressive, Secondary, Multiple Sclerosis, (which is only a name they gave to the disease because my Neurologists are unsure of what it actually is -- and this seemed to be the closest) but there are times when I'm unable to see, hear, walk, write, much less type, etc. Therefore a good friend of mine had typed things in for me. Many things, of which, I was unaware that she had placed in -- all true, but she did take it upon herself to do for me. Actually, a mistake was made regarding my business. When she had said that it was one of the World's Largest International "Click Through" Businesses on the Internet. She did write it incorrectly. The business is one of the World's Largest International "Click Through" Business DIRECTORIES on the Internet. So, I'm apologize for her error. My friend who had written about me is such a sweet lady, but knows VERY LITTLE about the Internet. Yet, when someone is doing something for you, don't complain! They are taking the time to do something out of the goodness of their heart. So, she thought she'd write a little more than what I had mentioned. She always hears me speaking of the days at Greeley, and wanted everyone to know what's been going on in my life since then.

I was sent a poem, which I'd like to share with everyone. Please, take no offense to it. It is not intended for any particular religion. It is just something to read. I thought that it was absolutely beautiful and wanted to share it with you. Here it is and just enjoy:

Watch and listen carefully:

The man whispered, "God, speak to me,"
And a meadowlark sang.
But, the man did not hear.

So the man yelled "God, speak to me!"
And, the thunder rolled across the sky.

But, the man did not listen.
The man looked around and said,

"God let me see you."
And a star shone brightly.

But the man did not notice.
And, the man shouted,

"God show me a miracle!"
And, a new life was born.

But, the man did not know.
So, the man cried out in despair,

"Touch me God, and let me
know you are here!"

Whereupon, God reached down
and touched the man.

But, the man brushed the butterfly
away and walked on.

Don't miss out on a blessing because
it isn't packaged the way that you expect.

I would LOVE to hear from anyone. If you'd like to talk, want advice about web designing, computers, the Internet, etc...

There are numberous of other e-mails, but due to my business, these are the most used.

I can't wait to hear from you! Thanks!!

personal changes
After 15 years in the newspaper business, I "retired" last month to be home fulltime with our two boys, ages 4.5 and 1.5 years old. I see how fleeting their childhood is and want to savor it with them. So far, I am really enjoying myself - though I don't have a lot of time to myself! Sometimes, being a fulltime parent feels like a countercultural decision. Fortunately, we live in a tightly knit community and know other parents staying home with their children. So I don't lack for adult companionship during the day.

My husband and I live near Rutgers University in a nearly century-old home in an historic neighborhood. Greg works at the World Trade Center, doing media relations for the Port Authority.

I would love to hear from my old Greeley friends - from classes and theater. I mostly have lost touch with them. As time goes on, I appreciate more and more the wonderful teachers I had at Greeley - Mr. Stewart, Mr. Dunn, Ms. Cross, Mr. Corwin and Dr. O'Neill to name just a few.

One of my sisters, Amy, lives in Chappaqua and my parents still do too. So I
visit frequently.

Allison Salerno '80

Ann Marie (Rea) Tucci - Leonaggeo and her husband of 16+ years have lived in Las Vegas, Nevada for the past 11 years. They have two boys, Domenick who is 13 years old and Andrew who is 11 years old.

Ann Marie is the owner of one of the World's Largest International "Click Through" Businesses on the Internet. The site has been up for 6+ years now. The business is called "The Internet Directory" / "The Online Directory". The two URL's are: http://www.theinternetdirectory.com and http://www.theonlinedirectory.com, both of which point to the same site. The best way to contact me would be through this e-mail address: tod (at) theonlinedirectory.com

"Wow, when this business began, I had never expected it to become this huge so quickly."

It is literally a 24/7/365 business. There are thousands upon thousands of businesses which are listed on the site. Even more than that come to visit it on a daily basis. It's just incredible! Take a look to see what you think. What is given out FREE are the listings which include: the business name, address, telephone number, fax number, slogan &/or motto, links to your URL (website) and links to your existing e-mail accounts.

She has also written articles for Reader's Digest, People Magazine and several small newspapers.

Ann Marie (Rea) left Horace Greeley early, due to her family moving. She went to Fox Lane (BOOO, HISSSS) for six months. She graduated high school, prior to her 16th birthday. She is still a terminal student. She has an Associates in Legal, Associates in Sociology, CPCU in Insurance, Licensed as a Stock Broker, Level 3 in Sign-Language, and went to school for nursing. Currently, due to her illness, which I'll explain in a little bit, she is the owner of the Internet Business, does web design, fixes computers, etc...anything to do with computer and writing seems to be her life these days. In her spare time that is. Her children and husband are the source of her strength with this horrible disease. She never seems to complain though. The pain which she is in on a daily basis, is just incredible. How she can stand it, we don't know.

Robert, her husband works at MGM Grand Hotel / Casino. He is a graduate of the New York Botanical Gardens. He is a horticulturist.

Ann Marie (Rea)'s children go to a private school out here in Las Vegas, Nevada. They live on the 9th Tee of the Las Vegas National. This is a golf course where many of the pro's play in different tournments.

The thing that she really enjoys is NASCAR and the DRAG RACING! She never misses a single one. Naturally, going and staying in the private booth is the only way to go. If not, forget about your hearing! Especially with the Drag Races!

The family loves Las Vegas. Yes, the majority of Las Vegas isn't what you'd see on a television show. It's not just gambling, by any means. The people are friendly, you can walk down the street without fear of being mugged, the weather is great! NO SNOW and an average of about 3 - 4 inches of rain a year. The sun is always out. Boating is an always on the weekends. They just take the boat out on Lake Mead and travel to Hoover Dam. The kids love to jump off and go swimming in the lake. It's really a great place to live. Yes, without a doubt, it's HOT in the summer. But, remember when you have humidity of 10% at the highest, you can actually be outside when it's 110 degrees and not break a sweat.

Anyway, I should explain to you why the businesses on the Internet was started. This business was done for a couple of reasons. The first reason is that Ann Marie (Rea) is a computer nut and the second is because of Ann Marie (Rea)'s illness. She was diagnosed with a VERY RARE form of Multiple Sclerosis. There is only one other person in the United States who has this. It's name is: Chronic, Progressive, Secondary, Multiple Sclerosis. Unfortunately, it is moving along far too quickly. But don't feel bad because her attitude is that "She has M.S. but M.S. doesn't have her!" Naturally, the M.S. is going to win in the end, but any of you who know Ann Marie (Rea) know that she's a fighter and she's going to put up a huge fight!

I know that Ann Marie (Rea) has been trying to contact several people who went to Horace Greeley. If anyone knows a telephone number or an e-mail address for Laurie Lopez, Barbara Jean (Bobbi Jean) Lopez, Jenny O'Donnell, Melissa English, Karen Partello, Steve Linarez, Hugh Ferguson or Jill Eline, please send her their information.

Ann Marie (Rea) would love to hear from anyone from school. Due to her illness, she's unable to fly and was not able to make it to the "Class Reunion" last summer.

Remember two things: (1) No matter what may happen to you throughout your lifetime, no matter what type of obsticles you may run into, no matter how bad things may look at times..FIGHT even if you know you're going to lose, DO YOUR BEST! Everything happens for a reason, and you WILL FIND that rainbow that we're all looking for and (2)Do you remember what Horace Greeley said; "Go West Young Man" and going from Chappaqua, New York to Las Vegas, Nevada was going pretty far west--well, Horace Greeley was right!!!!

Hi I was wondering if anyone new Brian Savage's address or email....he graduated in 1977 thanks

Class of '80 Reunion recap
Just wanted to say what a great time I had at the Class of '80 reunion. Thanks to everyone who helped organize this event. It meant alot to me to get so many warm welcomes from fellow classmates that I hadn't seen in twenty years. I still can't believe it's been twenty years! I am looking forward to the next reunion.

Class of '80 20th Reunion recap
Having just returned from our 20th reunion I would like to say I am very proud to be a member of the class of '80. A fantastic effort by the very dedicated and hard working reunion committee. I think for thoise of us who were there it was definitely worth the "trip". I don't know about the rest of you but how weird was it walking into Calhouns on Friday night and seeing people you had not sseen for over twenty years? What was weirder is so many of them look like adult versions of themselves...oh yeah. I really enjoyed the reunion and hope our class can pull off a 25th! For those of you who missed the 20th I think you missed something very special so for you slackers that didn't make it let's get the ball rolling for the 25th. There will be McKluskey mud wrestling at the 25th along with Naked Groover Girls so be there or be lonely.

Class of '80 20th Reunion recap
20th reunion was better than I expected! I felt as if I were still in high school!
Many thanks to all organizers. I look forward to corresponding with others who are still smiling!

Alan Altman '80
Hello all, just had a great time at our 20th and would like to hear from any Greeley grads that are in the Los Angeles area. I also would like to hear from any old friends from high school. I am doing great living in Thousand Oaks CA and flying as a pilot for TWA.

Class of '80 Reunion
To those from the Class of 1980, I hope you have a great weekend. I wish I could be there on July 1, but work doesn't allow me to. I live in England and work for IBM in London. I am also married and have a two year old daughter. Ricey, Roy if your around, drop me a line. Have fun.

Class of '80
I was wondering how Adam Belanoff, Adam Isidore, and Bill Winn are.

Rachel Falconer '80
Laurie Casey recently emailed me out of the blue and sent me information about this site. I am delighted to be back in touch with Greeley-ites. I've lost my 1980 Yearbook, and would love to know how to order a replacement copy. Are there spares in a closet somewhere? I am working at a university in the north of England, where at this time of year all you see is grey rain (Sheffield, home of the full monty). It's a time of year we tend to write more letters. The topic I'm interested in at the moment is literary descents into hell, in fiction written after 1945. Read any brilliant books on this theme lately? I would love to hear news from Drusie (1979) (a note to her: I still think it's Orion), or Tizzie Collins, Tara Lefton or Sue Friedman, or any of the Photography crowd, Adam Isidore (all 1980s). I would also love to contact my English teachers, or at least to know how many of them are still teaching at Greeley. I hold them personally responsible for where I am now! I often remember my art room days, some of my most content, and wonder whether it's changed. Recently, I took up the cello again, and in Sheffield Philharmonic, have rediscovered how fantastic it is to make a huge noise collectively. But is there anywhere I can get hold of that yearbook? With warmest regards to everyone, Rachel

Seeking folks
Hello :) I am looking for Rachel Faulkner and Art Mahon. If anyone knows how I can reach them online, please let me know. They are old friends. Thanks!!

The Clintons Come to Town
In case anyone was wondering who used to live in the house that Bill and Hillary Clinton just bought...that was me (in the 70's). If you had access to a Washington Post from Nov. 2, 1999, you might have caught my article in the Style section about what it's like to have the President buy your old house.

I'm living and teaching in Washington DC, and my wife and I have a 2 year old girl and a baby on the way in a few weeks.
