Allan Lincoln Damon Obituary Posted by Larry Rubin re: HG1976 on September 24, 2014 Damon, Allan Lincoln Allan Lincoln Damon, of Somers, NY, died at his home on September 22, 2014 from complications of leukemia and MDS. He was born the older of identical twins in Ware, MA in 1934. His family moved to Springfield, MA where he ultimately graduated from Classical High School in 1952. He earned his BA from his beloved Amherst College in 1956, followed by an MA from Colombia University in American History in 1958. Allan then taught American History for 33 years at Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, NY, retiring in June, 1991. Upon retirement, he completed his Ph. D. in American History from Columbia in 1994 and spent many years as a trustee and treasurer of the National Council for History Education. In addition, he was a researcher, writer, and contributing editor for American Heritage, and a contributing writer to The Dictionary of American Biography and to Scribner's Encyclopedia of American Lives. He is survived by Claire, his wife of 57 years, and their sons, Jeffrey (spouse Heather) and Jonathan (spouse Oswaldo) and two grandsons, Sam and Eric. Family and friends mattered most to him, and he was fiercely loyal to them. He was a voracious reader and an enthusiastic traveler, always happy to get to Maine, where the family spent time every summer. He will be greatly missed. He will be privately buried in Connecticut. There will be a memorial service on September 27, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown, 2880 Crompond Road, Yorktown Heights. Russ Mance, '78 Posted by Larry Rubin re: HG1976 on October 2, 2009 Russ Mance passed away this week. His obit was posted by his sister Kim: http://www.legacy.com/Tucson/Obituaries.asp?page=lifestory&personid=133788608 Russell Kenneth Mance 48, this loving, complex and funny, son, brother, uncle, lover, dear friend and valued employee left us for a better place. Russ grew up in Chappaqua, NY and was the youngest son of J. Robert and Mary Mance of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. He is also survived by sister, Kimberly Blauvelt (Scott) of Murrysville, PA; brother, Craig Mance (Jody) of Ridgefield, CT and brother, Doug Mance (Laura) of Tucson. They loved and admired him every day of his life. Numerous nieces and nephews and the "best thing in his life" Terri Arndt and "best friend" Roy also survive him. Russ moved to Tucson in the early 80's and filled his life with work, friends, reading, pets and gardening. He grew the best tomatoes in the universe! He could fix anything! To his family, friends, co-workers and other special people in his life, Russ was one of the most interesting and entertaining people on the face of the earth. We all know people who are much too smart and funny for their own good. Take good care of those people. They are very important in our world. Russ, we love you, we respect you, and of course, will miss you. We will bring you to life with our memories for as long as we live. Friends should stay in touch for a future gathering.

Friends of Bill Posted by Jack Pfaff re: HG1976 on july 28, 1999 Firstly, I think we all owe Jesse Chan-Norris a great big "MERCI BEAUCOUP" for putting together and maintaining this website, not to mention the litany of Greeley french teachers who made it possible for me to say "thank-you" in french. Now there's a language I use alot today:^) The most important thing I can say about myself is that I am a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous. If you are a Greeley 76er (or any other class) who is a Friend of Bill's, I'd like to here from you. Of course, your anonymity will be respected in accordance with the Twelfth Tradition. If you think you have a problem with alcohol &/or drugs, drop me a line. The very brief version of my story goes something like this: I drank. I got drunk. I fell down in every sense one can fall down (physically, mentally and spiritually). I stumbled into AA (many times) and my life has been transformed. Life now has meaning after many years of wandering in a desert of despair and isolation. If you want to talk, I'm here. I'm living in Mt. Kisco and my home-group is called Leonard Park. Peace.
